Ferguson is a retired business professional and continues to play a prominent role in the Northeast Tennessee community. From March 1992 until his retirement in January 2009, Mr. Ferguson served as president and/or chief executive officer of Nuclear Fuel Services, Inc. (NFS) located in Erwin, Tennessee. During his tenure with Nuclear Fuel Services, he also served as chief financial officer and executive vice president.

Mr. Ferguson began his career with a degree in accounting earned at the University of Virginia. He is a Certified Public Accountant®. He was instrumental in establishing the “Goal Card” program which serves Washington, Carter, and Unicoi Counties by providing incentives for academic performance. Mr. Ferguson received the Friends of Education Award on behalf of NFS by the Tennessee Education Association in Nashville for recognition of involvement in schools through a myriad of programs. Since his retirement, he has become actively involved in the community serving on the Tusculum College Board of Trustees as treasurer, chairman of the Northeast State Foundation Board, the East Tennessee State University School of Business and Technology Advisory Board, the Mountain States Washington County Community Foundation and the Board of the Sequoyah Council of the Boy Scouts. He is a member of the Kiwanis and serves as treasurer of Jonesborough United Methodist Church.

Mr. Ferguson is a founding member of the Board of Directors for both the Bank and the Holding Company since its inception in August, 2006. Ferguson has served as interim acting chairman since June, 2010.
