First-Ever Tennessee Green Summit to be Held in Nashville Sept. 22

Knoxville, TN (September 3, 2009) — The Tennessee Energy Services Coalition announced today that it will host the first-ever Tennessee Green Building Summit on September 22, 2009 at the Nashville Airport Marriott. The conference, with a theme of “Getting Green to Go Green,” will provide an opportunity for cities, counties, K-12, higher education, state agencies and a wide variety of stakeholders to participate in informative sessions on funding energy efficiency projects.

“This Summit is timely as cities, counties and schools are looking for ways to accomplish their goals with increasingly tight budgets,” said Kevin Waters of Johnson Controls and chair of the summit. “Energy efficiency is now. This is a time to take action.”

Government and community leaders as well as industry experts will discuss trends, legislation and American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) monies available for energy efficiency projects.

The State and Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) will be also on hand to discuss incentives offered for energy efficiency projects.

Attendees will learn how performance contracting can be used to leverage savings to perform energy efficiency projects and where this method has been successful in Tennessee.
