January 10, 2012, Knoxville, TN — With its winning 10th anniversary season halfway over, the Knoxville Ice Bears announced today the rollout of new broadcast technology that should be icing on the cake for their fans for the rest of the season. Beginning with its January 13, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. home game, the Ice Bears will be broadcast live from the Knoxville Civic Coliseum.

Comcast, the exclusive telecommunications provider of the Ice Bears, will broadcast all home and away games live using high-definition technology made possible by AmericaOne. While AmericaOne has been streaming Ice Bears games over the internet through a league-wide partnership for some time, this is the first time the games will be broadcast through Comcast and made available to Comcast subscribers live and on-demand.

“This technology allows us to do something we haven’t done before in Knoxville. Comcast is very pleased to partner with the Ice Bears to bring home games live to fans around the region,” said Valerie Gillespie, Area Vice President and General Manager for Comcast.

The Knoxville Ice Bears is the only team in the Southern Professional Hockey League that will be carrying its games through a local cable provider. Loch & Key Productions, a Knoxville film and television production company, will provide the video production services necessary to provide the live broadcast.

“The games are a blast, and our goal is to capture enough of that to entice people to come down and experience it in person,” said Andy Feliu, Loch & Key Production Manager, now in his sixth season of providing production services for the Ice Bears.

“This is a win for our fans. Our team and staff are excited about the possibilities it represents to bring Ice Bears hockey to a whole new audience,” said Mike Murray, President and General Manager of the Knoxville Ice Bears.

In the Knoxville Comcast service area, games will be broadcast on Channel 96.
