Q&A: Matt & Meridith—The Newest MCG Interns

Summer is practically here, which means baseball, lightning bugs, ice cream—and new interns. To initiate the lively additions to the MCG crew, we administered a short Q&A session at our studio. Meet Matt and Meridith.

MATT PATTESON
Hometown: Knoxville, Tennessee
Education: Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Ringling College of Art & Design
What was your first job? I took care of people’s animals at All Kreatures Pet Care.
Why MCG? I enjoyed branding in college, so I wanted to experience it in a real-world environment. Plus, it’s in Knoxville.
What do you hope to learn? I’d like to see more of the business side of an agency.
What are you reading? These questions.
If you could change one thing about Knoxville, what would it be? It’d be football season year-round.
What are your top three favorite brands? Nike, Knob Creek and Comedy Central.

MERIDITH OWENS
Hometown: Knoxville, Tennessee
Education: Associate of Applied Science Degree from Pellissippi State Community College, and currently a junior studying graphic design at University of Tennessee Knoxville
What was your first job? I was a sales associate selling jeans at American Eagle.
Why MCG? Morris Creative has been active in Knoxville for 20-plus years and has a good reputation with the people I respect and who have influenced my personal and professional growth.
What do you hope to learn? I told Chuck and the team yesterday, “Everything that they don’t teach you in the classroom at school.” The more I learn all aspects of the business the better I can be as a designer. I’m passionate about helping others, and I want to learn anything that will make me a better helper.
What are you reading? I read magazines and newspapers. Currently, I’m subscribing to Forbes, Forbes Lifestyle, Wall Street Journal, Communication Arts, Dwell, Women’s Health and Details.
If you could change one thing about Knoxville, what would it be? I would make Knoxville more bike-friendly with bike lanes and parks that connect the city from downtown to West Knoxville.
What are your top three favorite brands? Crate&Barrel, Nike and Sriracha (the hot sauce).
