I’m With the Brand: A Strong Brand Identity Makes You Memorable and Share-Worthy

When you think of branding, you might think of a company’s logo, tagline, or spokesperson. These are all important aspects of a brand’s identity, but there is much more to it than just the basics. HubSpot writes that a brand “also refers to the overall experience a customer undergoes when interacting with a business — as a shopper, customer, social media follower, or mere passerby.”

Think of Coca-Cola. Did a red can with white script lettering come to mind? Probably! For me, I also thought of hot summer days at home in Atlanta. I arguably have a relationship with the Coca-Cola brand because my experiences with their products go far beyond just a can of soda. I know any fellow Georgians can relate.

So, why is branding important? Branding gives you an identity. When you expand upon your name and logo, you become more memorable. And now more than ever, consumers want to connect with the brands they support Authentic, transparent brands are more likely to appeal to Millennials and Gen Z, as they tend to give preference to brands that are “real and organic” and not “perfect and well-packaged.”

Branding also plays a role in the consumer’s decision-making process. SproutSocial found when people feel a connection with a brand, 57% of consumers will increase their spending with that brand and 76% will buy from them over a competitor. Over time, these connections can lead to brand loyalty – and even brand evangelists!

There’s a lot to consider when creating a brand identity. First, think about your target audience – who does your brand serve and why do they need/want your brand? Without doing target market research, your brand likely won’t resonate with your desired audience. Next, think about what sets your brand above the rest – what makes you unique? This is also a great time to solidify your brand values.

Once you have a deeper understanding of your buyer personas and how your brand can solve the various problems they’re facing, the fun begins! Although creating the visual assets of your brand might seem daunting, contacting a professional designer will set you up for success including a strong logo, simplified brand guidelines, and a cohesive look and feel.
