Former Pastor Hired as New Asbury Director of Philanthropy

Rev. Clifford W. Amos

JOHNSON CITY, TN — Asbury Inc. is pleased to announce that Rev. Clifford W. Amos has been appointed to the position of Director of Philanthropy.

As Director of Philanthropy, Rev. Amos will be using his expertise to raise funds for campuses at Kingsport, Johnson City and Maryville. He comes to Asbury with more than 25 years of experience in all aspects of philanthropic giving. His past positions include Director of Gift Planning for the Holston Conference Foundation and Vice President of Institutional Advancement for the Holston Home for Children. He will be based at the Asbury Place Maryville Campus at the corporate support office.

Rev. Amos is responsible for directing and implementing various fundraising projects in Maryville, Kingsport and Johnson City.  He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Cincinnati and a Masters of Divinity from the New Orleans Theological Seminary.  Rev. Amos has served as a pastor in Tennessee. He was VP of Development for the Holston Home for Children, Director of Gift Planning for the Holston Conference Foundation for five years, and has preached in over 200 churches.  Rev. Amos is a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Fountain City and is a deacon in full connection.  He and his wife, Victoria, have been married for 35 years. They have one son, Luke, and a daughter, Rachel, and a grandson, Hayden.  Rev. Amos was born in South Charleston, West Virginia. His hobbies include woodworking and stained glass.

Asbury, Inc., which owns three retirement communities in eastern Tennessee, has renovation and expansion projects underway at all of its campuses, positioning it to provide for the exploding senior living market expected over the next several years.
